BRIDE [hard]

O Bride foi uma das mais importantes bandas do metal cristão dos anos 80. Corretamente chamados de os pioneiros do heavy metal cristão. A banda começou precisamente em 1983, ainda com o nome de Matrix, mas logo após assinar com um dos maiores selos voltado para o metal cristão da época, muda o nome para Bride. O primeiro álbum foi gravado ainda com o nome Matrix, que seriam das 4 demos, que eram distribuídas em seus shows. Contudo, a banda foi ganhando atenção da cena underground, como os fanzines, inclusive tendo o apoio da maior publicação especializada em musica, a CCM (Contemporary Christian Music Magazine) mundialmente conhecida. Mas o start mesmo, veio com o nome Bride, em 86, onde a banda já contava com uma estrutura musical estável, e com experiência suficiente, para embarcar na cena, que já contava com muitas bandas popularmente chamadas de white metal.

A banda fazia um som que continha as influências clássicas, tradicionais do heavy metal de bandas como Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, mostrando-se também contaminada pela cena New Wave Of Bristist Heavy Metal, inclusive pelo visual que também trazia essas referências. Os três primeiros álbuns foram lançados pela Refuge/Pure Metal records: Show No Mercy, Live To Die e Silence Is Madness, ambos relançados recentemente e distribuídos no Brasil. Esses são alguns dos álbuns mais reverenciados pelos fãs mais radicais (os christians headbangers), e músicas como: "Heroes", "Until The End We Rock", "Evil Dreams", "Everybody Knows My Name", "Evil That Men Do", "Show No Mercy" são apenas um dos hinos que marcaram a cena christian metal. Mas o maior clássico do Bride, é a música 'Heroes' do álbum Live To Die, e pra ser mais claro, seria uma espécie de The Number Of The Beast (Iron Maiden) para os cristãos. E o vocalista Dale, canta naquele mesmo estilo do Bruce Dickinson, do qual já recebeu algumas comparações, o que só reforça seu nome como um dos maiores vocalista do metal cristão. Os irmãos Dale (vocal) e Troy (Guitar) sempre foram o sangue da banda e seus fundadores, permanecendo até hoje na banda e esses 'brothers' mantém o Bride vivo!

As mudanças no caminho da banda aconteceram de muitas formas, passando por vários selos, formações, e também seu estilo musical sofreu alterações. O Bride foi uma das bandas mantidas, logo quando a Star Song Communications comprou a Pure Metal Records, e assim lançou vários trabalhos e os grandes shows, tours, dos quais lhes renderam algumas premiações dentro da categoria rock cristão, não esquecendo os destasques especiais em revistas especializadas, sendo capa várias vezes, da revista Heaves'n Metal, um dos maiores veículos de rock cristão atual.

Após 4 anos, a banda encerra contrato com a Star Song e assina com um selo independente chamado Rugged Records, que em seguida veio o álbum Drop, esse que já apresentava fortes mudanças em termos de estilos musicais, não tendo mais a veia heavy, hard, do passado. Continuando sua história, a banda passa por mais alguns selos, e atualmente trabalha de forma independente, onde já lançaram e re-lançaram vários materiais. As dificuldades não afastaram a banda do seu propósito musical maior, onde a mensagem positiva é falar de Deus para as pessoas, que é realmente o que fala mais alto na banda.

Entre as turnês da banda, um dos países alvo sempre foi o Brasil, onde já fizeram vários shows e comenta-se que é onde a banda tem mais fãs. E o que é mais real ainda, é que a banda é referência e influências para toda a cena underground cristã. A perseguição dos velhos fãs, que reclamava da direção musical da banda, que foi sempre justificada pelo o vocalista Dale, parece ter mexido com o núcleo da banda. Eles anunciaram que o seu novo álbum This Is It (Indie) estava bastante pesado, e que tinha um toque do último álbum, Snakes In The Playground, (92) que é considerado um dos melhores álbuns da banda. É desse álbum que tem duas músicas que sempre esteve nos setlist da banda, "Would You Die For Me" e "Psychedelic Super Jesus", totalmente invadida pelo público nos shows.
